Contractor Maintains 'Pame Express' Service - What the Ministry of Transport Proposes

The Ministry of Transport is preparing proposals to attract professional drivers in order to ensure the smooth operation of the 'Pame Express' service. The contracting company has assured that it will continue to operate the service for at least the next two months, pending a comprehensive proposal to definitively solve the problem. The issue of drivers, which was described as a 'dying breed', was discussed in the Transport Committee. Proposals under consideration include lowering the age limit for obtaining professional driving licenses and collaborating with the Ministry of Education to create relevant training programs. Additionally, the possibility of hiring drivers from third countries and changing the law for professional licenses was discussed. Cyprus Public Transport proposed not to reduce other routes to maintain 'Pame Express'.
