Taxi Drivers Protest Piracy, Criticize Transport Minister's Absence

Taxi drivers across Cyprus held a mobilization protesting against piracy in their industry. The drivers delivered memoranda to the House of Representatives and the Presidential Palace, expressing their disappointment with the absence of Transport Minister, Alexis Vafiadis, from the Ministry during their protest. They accused the Minister of lacking seriousness and indifference to the problems of the sector, emphasizing that his absence indicates a lack of solutions. Taxi drivers stressed that they will continue their struggle until they find justice, while the President of the Pan-Cypriot Association of Urban Taxi Drivers (POAT) described the Minister's behavior as "cowardly". The President of the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Alekos Tryfonidis, stated that the issue of piracy is already being examined by the Committee and that there is a plan for a comprehensive reform of the sector.
