Power Outage: The Cause of the Brief 'Blackout' in Various Regions of Cyprus

A fault in the electricity generation system caused power outages in various areas of Cyprus on Friday afternoon. The fault, which occurred at 18:57, involved the loss of Production Unit AT/S 2 at the Vasilikos Power Station, which was operating with a load of 116 MW. The loss of the unit caused the rejection of consumer load and affected the electricity supply in various areas. The fault was fully restored at 19:13, according to an announcement by the Cyprus Transmission System Operator (TSO).
