Dimitriadis: Weakness in the Functioning of the Legal Service

Legal expert Achilleas Dimitriadis stated that he is awaiting the reasons for the appeal from the legal service, as well as the decision of the dissenting judge in the Syliouris – Tzovanni case. He criticized the lack of emphasis by the legal service on the Al Jazeera video, stressing the lack of public trust in the legal service and the government due to the absence of witnesses. He emphasized that the absence of witnesses confirms the problem of public confidence in the legal service and the government. He expressed doubts as to whether we live in a state governed by the rule of law, as well as the way cases are prepared and presented in court. Mr. Dimitriadis argued that there is a weakness in the functioning of the legal service, pointing out the over-concentration of powers in the Attorney General as one of the problems. He questioned why the press conference was not held by the Attorney General himself, but by the service's press representative. Dimitriadis's criticism focuses on the need for transparency, efficiency and accountability in the functioning of the legal service, as well as the restoration of public trust in the justice system.
