President Does Not Rule Out Cyprus Hosting Israel-Lebanon Talks

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, did not rule out the possibility of Cyprus hosting talks between Israel and Lebanon, stating that he had a telephone conversation with the President of Lebanon. He emphasized that the security of Cyprus is the responsibility of Europe and thanked European partners for their prompt response and the dispatch of military equipment to the island. He also commented that Turkey remains an occupying power in Cyprus, regardless of the arrival of Turkish F16s in the occupied territories. He also referred to the need to increase shelters, as current rates are not satisfactory.
