University of Cyprus Rector Denies Having Evidence of 'Golden Degrees'

The Rector of the University of Cyprus, Tasos Christofides, responded to the allegations made by the Mayor of Paphos, Phaedonas Phaedonos, regarding the purchase of degrees. Mr. Christofides clarified that the Mayor contacted him after the Rector posted on Facebook requesting Mr. Phaedonos to provide names. Although he has heard about the phenomenon, he stated that he has no evidence to substantiate the Mayor's claims. He also indirectly criticized the large number of universities and colleges in Cyprus, implying questions about their purpose. This response came as a reply to Mr. Phaedonos's announcement, where he had called on the Rector to take action.
