Dromolaxia Municipality: Extension of Disinfection Tanks to 9 Meters for Foot-and-Mouth Disease

The Municipality of Dromolaxia-Meneou, in consultation with the Department of Agriculture, is proceeding with the extension of disinfection tanks to 9 meters to address the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak and the placement of warning signs in livestock areas. Vaccination of animals is also expected in the coming days. The Municipality has already constructed disinfection tanks in various livestock areas and has closed certain passages to limit traffic. It also provides psychological support to livestock farmers through the Mental Health Services of the OKYPY. The Municipality is in constant communication with the Department of Agriculture and stakeholders to monitor the situation and inform livestock farmers. It is noted that the death of a 73-year-old livestock farmer in a livestock area of Dromolaxia was due to cardiac arrest, possibly due to the stress of the days.
