AKEL Leader Pledges to Promote War Prisoners' Demands in Parliament

The General Secretary of AKEL, Stefanos Stefanou, pledged to promote the demands of war prisoners in Parliament. This commitment was given during a meeting with a delegation of the Association of War Prisoners of 1974, where the problems faced by prisoners and the lack of a structured support framework for those who experienced captivity in 1974 were discussed. The Association of War Prisoners highlighted the need for accurate maintenance of the prisoners' registry and their inclusion in the reduced pricing of EAC. Mr. Stefanou emphasized AKEL's consistency in approaching the issues raised by organizations of war prisoners, victims and disabled people of the coup and invasion. The General Secretary assured that all requests raised would be discussed in the Parliamentary Committee on Refugees, with the aim of initiating solutions. The meeting is part of AKEL's ongoing efforts to support the rights and needs of war prisoners and their families. The meeting was also attended by the President, Secretary and Assistant Secretary of the Association of War Prisoners of 1974, confirming the importance of cooperation between the party and the organization to resolve the problems faced by the prisoners.
