Dendias: Greece Turning Its Back on Cyprus Would Be Historically Unforgivable

Defense Minister Nikos Dendias emphasized in an interview with "To Vima tis Kiriakis" that Greece has a duty to support Cyprus, describing it as historically and nationally unforgivable to turn its back on it. The deployment of F-16s and the "Kimon" and "Psara" frigates to Cyprus aims to protect it, with Mr. Dendias pledging continued support with all available means. He dismissed opposition criticism, citing positive reactions from President Christodoulides and his Cypriot counterpart, Vassilis Palmas, as well as the mobilization of European forces. He praised the Armed Forces personnel for the speed with which the operation was organized. Finally, he stated that Greece has increased its geopolitical footprint in the region, participating in five operations abroad and upgrading its role as a guarantor of stability and security.
