Doctor Accused by Colleagues of Neglecting Patients

Sixteen doctors at Limassol Hospital have filed four signed letters of complaint to the Cyprus Organisation of State Health Services (OKYPY) against a colleague. The accusations concern his refusal to examine patients of his specialty in the emergency department, leading to delays and the need for other doctors to monitor them. He is also accused of giving phone instructions to discharge patients without seeing them, even if they are in critical condition, as well as making unilateral decisions regarding colleagues' leave. In one instance, he is alleged to have violently dismissed colleagues from his office during a discussion about leave. Finally, he is accused of refusing to treat a patient because they were not under his clinic's care. OKYPY is expected to review the complaints in the coming days.
