Four-Day Work Week Approved for Bank Employees in Cyprus

In Cyprus, ETYK and Societe Generale Bank Cyprus have reached an agreement to renew the collective agreement for 2023-2027, which was approved by ETYK members with a 96% vote. The agreement introduces, for the first time in Cyprus, a four-day work week during the summer months, while maintaining the same daily working hours and employee benefits. ETYK describes this development as historic and a major success, as it is a modern institution that has not been implemented to date in the private or public sector. In addition, the agreement provides for a one-time payment of €1,500, an increase of three days of annual leave, improvement of salary scales and an increase in the amounts of conventional loans. The agreement is expected to create a positive precedent for the banking sector.
