Iranian Embassy in Cyprus Claims Foreign Interference in Protests

The Iranian Embassy in Cyprus reports foreign interference in the recent protests in the country. According to the embassy, the protests began peacefully in December due to economic problems, and the authorities attempted to cooperate with union representatives and economic activists. However, the situation escalated with the involvement of "new elements," leading to vandalism and property damage. The embassy claims that armed terrorist elements later joined the protests, indiscriminately targeting police and civilians. It further accuses the United States and Israel of "clear and admitted" involvement in facilitating these actions, stating that security forces have seized weapons from terrorist groups. Iran considers the current terrorist campaign a direct continuation of the "Twelve-Day War," a joint US-Israeli military aggression against Iran in 2025. The embassy emphasizes that the majority of the population (over 80%) desires an end to the unrest and accountability for the rioters. According to Iran, foreign incitement is the primary cause of the protests, with over 70% of the population believing this, while only 30% attribute them mainly to domestic economic issues. The embassy republishes this information, highlighting the Iranian government's perception of the events.
