Cyprus' Population is Aging: One in Five Citizens Over 65 – Fastest Aging Rate in the EU

Data from Eurostat shows that Cyprus' population is aging at a faster rate compared to other European Union countries. The average age of the population has increased by 4 years in the last decade, reaching 41 years in 2025, while the percentage of people over 65 years of age is now 18.3%. Conversely, the percentage of children under 14 is decreasing, reaching 15.2%. Cyprus and Slovakia are at the top of the EU in terms of aging rate, which raises concerns about the country's future.
