German FM Pledges Support for Cyprus if Needed

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul assured his Cypriot counterpart, Constantinos Kombos, that Germany will provide assistance to Cyprus if needed. The meeting took place in Nicosia and focused on the impact of the current crisis on global stability, particularly on energy prices, navigation, and supply chains. Kombos emphasized the need for an active role of Europe in de-escalation through diplomacy and stressed that Cyprus is part of the solution, not the problem. He also expressed gratitude to the countries that supported Cyprus, while referring to the successful operation of repatriating Cypriot citizens from war zones. Finally, he mentioned the stable bilateral relations with Germany and the need for the EU to focus on the region as an 'area of opportunity'. Wadephul acknowledged the unprecedented situation Cyprus is experiencing and the threat from Iran.
