French Armored Vehicles for the National Guard: 80 Griffon and 100 Serval Under Consideration – Technical Specifications

The Cyprus National Guard is considering the purchase of 80 French-made Griffon wheeled vehicles and 100 Serval vehicles through the SAFE regulation, according to a report in the French newspaper La Tribune. Cyprus has a tradition of procuring French armored vehicles, making this choice expected. In addition, discussions are underway to upgrade approximately 80 older VAB armored vehicles already in the National Guard's inventory, by the French company Arquus. Cyprus has strengthened its defense cooperation with France in recent years. The Griffon is a multi-role armored personnel carrier capable of carrying up to 8 soldiers, while the Serval is a lighter and faster multi-role vehicle. Both vehicles are part of the French Scorpion army modernization program and offer high mobility and protection. The potential acquisition of these vehicles would significantly enhance Cyprus's defense capabilities, providing the National Guard with modern equipment to address potential threats.
