Former French Senator Sentenced for Drugging and Assaulting MP

Joel Guerrio, a former French senator, has been sentenced to four years in prison, with a minimum of 18 months served, for administering ecstasy to MP Sandrine Josso without her knowledge, with the intent to sexually assault her. The case gained significant public attention following a similar, even more severe case involving Dominique Pelicaux. Josso testified that she felt unwell and became terrified after consuming champagne offered by Guerrio, with toxicology reports confirming the presence of ecstasy in her blood. Guerrio claims he accidentally added the substance to his drink and denies any sexual motive. His defense has announced an appeal. The MP expressed relief after the verdict, having previously taken six months off work to address the psychological and physical consequences of the incident.
