France: Investigation into Edmond de Rothschild Bank over 'Epstein' Scandal

Edmond de Rothschild bank is under investigation by the French financial prosecutor's office as part of a case involving French diplomat Fabrice Aïdan and his alleged connection to American financier Jeffrey Epstein. The investigation, which took place at the bank's headquarters in Paris, focuses on information that emerged from the so-called 'Epstein files'. Fabrice Aïdan, who worked at the French diplomatic mission to the United Nations when he allegedly became associated with Epstein, later worked at Edmond de Rothschild bank and the energy group Engie, from which he was fired when his relationships were revealed. The bank states that it is fully cooperating with the authorities and has launched an internal investigation. According to Epstein case documents, Aïdan allegedly provided diplomatic information to Epstein or did him various 'favors' between 2010 and 2017. The case has caused political uproar in France, with Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot taking legal action against Aïdan. The investigation is being conducted by the Central Office for Combating Corruption and Financial and Tax Crimes (OCLCIFF), to which Aïdan testified at the end of February. The case is ongoing and is expected to shed light on the relationships between Aïdan, Epstein and Edmond de Rothschild bank.
