20 Found, 12 Identified from Missing Persons List in 2025

So far this year, the Committee on Missing Persons (CMP) has identified 12 individuals from the official list of missing persons, while the remains of 20 people have been found in eight excavations, stated Leonidas Pantelidis, Greek Cypriot representative to the CMP, to KYPE on Tuesday. Mr. Pantelidis also emphasized the importance of the flow of information to the CMP, noting that every detail helps to have a complete picture of the burial sites. The identifications are a slow process, with some to be completed in 2026. The CMP conducted nearly 130 excavations this year, approximately 20% more than last year, with eight of them yielding findings. The committee has sufficient personnel for nine teams, but usually works with eight. The CMP is asking the public to provide any information that may assist in the search for missing persons. The identification of findings immediately notifies families.
