Parliament Approves Stricter Framework for Summer Schools and Childcare Centers

The Parliament unanimously approved two bills strengthening the framework for the operation of summer schools and childcare centers. The amendments aim to ensure the health and safety of children, as well as the quality of services provided. The first proposal, submitted by AKEL, strengthens the Ministry of Education's oversight of private schools operating as summer schools, requiring at least one annual inspection. The second proposal, also from AKEL, enhances the control and inspection mechanisms for child protection and employment centers, more precisely defining the elements to be checked during inspections, such as compliance with operating conditions, the employment of qualified personnel, and the suitability of facilities.
