Corruption Allegations Rock Cyprus Game and Fauna Service

Published February 16, 2026, 12:34

The 'Isotita' Union is alleging corruption and the involvement of the underworld within the Cyprus Game and Fauna Service, claiming the issue has been known for decades by all employees. The President of the Hourly Gamekeepers Branch, Apostolos Mouzouras, states that discussions about corruption are frequent in private meetings, but efforts to address it are ineffective. He accuses the service's head of inaction and unwillingness to cooperate, while also expressing disappointment at the lack of response to their complaints. The Game and Fauna Service responds that complaints accompanied by specific references are being investigated, but stresses that it is not engaging in "communication games". Mr. Mouzouras calls for a public debate with the head of the service and declares his readiness to submit evidence to "clean up" the service.
