Cyprus Presidency Prioritizes Closer EU-Middle East Ties

The Cyprus Presidency, under President Nikos Christodoulides, has made strengthening relations between the European Union and the Middle East a key priority. President Christodoulides emphasized that the Arab League can play a significant role in this effort. As part of this initiative, the President of the European Commission and the President of the European Council will travel to Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon following a proposal from the Cypriot President. Furthermore, the first EU-Egypt Summit has taken place, and discussions are underway for a strategic agreement with Lebanon.
