Parliamentary Committee Expresses Concern over Human Trafficking Following Channel 4 Report

The Parliamentary Committee on Human Rights has expressed strong concern regarding human trafficking in Cyprus, following the publication of a report by Channel 4. Police have launched an investigation into the report and are in contact with the British channel for further information. Committee members highlighted that the coordinating body for combating human trafficking is not functioning adequately and proposed transferring coordination to the Ministry of Justice and Public Order. The Committee had initially opposed the placement of the team under the Undersecretary of Migration, but the then government insisted.
