Cyprus Talks: Discussions to Center Around Erhurman's Terms?

President Christodoulides and Tufan Erhurman will meet today for the third time, aiming to restart negotiations on the Cyprus issue. Erhurman has set four conditions for the resumption of talks, with political equality being the most prominent, but he avoids specifying the form of the solution, leaving open the possibilities for a Bi-zonal Bi-communal Federation, confederation, or two states. The UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Maria Angel Olgín Cueyár, appears to have set the agenda for the meeting based on Erhurman's conditions, which raises concerns about a deliberate deadlock. Ms. Olgín has stated that they will discuss the methodology, namely the four points raised by Erhurman. This stance is considered problematic, as it implies that Nicosia will be burdened with the responsibility for the failure to restart negotiations. The lack of clarity regarding the form of the solution and the insistence on Erhurman's conditions create doubts about the sincerity of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot side's intentions.
