Refugee Association Calls for Increased Grants to Pre-2013 Levels

The Pan-Cypriot Refugee Association (PEPA) is calling for an increase in grants to pre-2013 levels, as well as a review of the criteria and amount. PEPA seeks to prepare proposals for new housing plans that will benefit the refugee community, taking into account the current housing crisis and the positive economic data of the country. The PEPA Housing and Reconstruction Committee has examined in detail notes and proposals concerning all plans and departments dealing with refugee issues, such as the Care and Rehabilitation Service for Displaced Persons, the Turkish Cypriot Property Management Service, and the Cyprus Land Development Organization. The Committee's objectives include improving the procedures for submitting applications for Turkish Cypriot properties, repairing settlements and self-housing settlements, and utilizing chalik land for the construction of new housing units for displaced persons. PEPA is also monitoring issues such as the implementation of a plan for loss of use of property, property usurpation and illegal demolitions, as well as the extradition of a convicted usurper to Israel. In addition, PEPA expects the passage of the proposal for the creation of a National Loss of Use Fund and insists on the need for immediate implementation of a plan or solidarity fund for the displaced.
