Airfare Prices Rise Due to Conflict – 'Potentially Temporary'

Airfare prices have been increasing in recent days, attributed to the situation in the Middle East. However, according to Charis Papaharalambous, President of Travel Agents, this increase is not expected to significantly impact tourist flows to Cyprus or the travel of Cypriots abroad. The fare increase is general and applies to all travelers, while demand remains high, reflecting supply. Mr. Papaharalambous emphasized that Cyprus has recorded record travel numbers for the past three years, so there is no reason for panic. The increase in fares does not exceed the average rate of inflation. Furthermore, Cyprus's connectivity has increased significantly over the past five years, leading to an increase in both inbound and outbound tourism. He noted that the current increase in prices may be temporary. Regarding the best time to book tickets, he recommended doing so as early as possible. Early booking is the rule for securing better prices. Finally, Mr. Papaharalambous stressed the importance of managing Cyprus's image abroad in order to avoid a negative impact on tourism during the summer. A positive image of Cyprus is vital for attracting tourists.
