Foot-and-Mouth Disease Outbreak Sparks Outrage – Farmers Claim Lack of Measures

An outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in sheep and goat farms in Oroklini is causing shock and outrage among farmers, who claim a lack of protective measures from the authorities. Videos and images reveal tragic conditions for the animals, while also demonstrating shortcomings in health protocols. Farmers report symptoms appearing on Monday, but measures were taken late, resulting in around 50 animals dying daily. They emphasize that the area has not been sealed off and vehicles are moving freely, endangering the spread of the disease. The Union of Cypriot Farmers and the Police have already gone to the area, while the Minister of Agriculture replies that moves will be made based on the instructions of veterinarians.
