Foot and Mouth Disease Investigation Launched by Police

The Police have launched an investigation into the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in livestock units, taking statements from farmers and veterinarians. According to testimonies, symptoms appeared in animals at units in Oroklini between February 14th and 16th. Failure to promptly inform the Veterinary Services by farmers is considered a violation of Law 109/2001, which requires the immediate reporting of any suspicion or diagnosis of a notifiable disease. This omission constitutes an offense and may be considered improper conduct for veterinarians. Investigations are ongoing to determine any omissions and assign responsibilities, while timely reporting of cases is crucial for controlling the spread of the disease.
