Foot-and-Mouth Disease: Approximately 2,000 Sheep and Goats Culled, Vaccine Doses Arrive

The culling of sheep and goats infected with foot-and-mouth disease continues in Oroklini, with approximately 2,000 animals already culled. A total of 13,000 animals are expected to be culled. Simultaneously, work is underway to open burial pits with the assistance of the Forestry Department and the National Guard. Today, 529,000 doses of vaccines from the European Commission are expected to arrive in Cyprus, which will be distributed according to the operational plan of the Veterinary Services. Vaccination of cattle within the 10-kilometer zone has already been completed, and vaccination of sheep and goats will follow.
