Fraudulent SMS Messages Impersonating the GESY

Published February 16, 2026, 09:28

There has been an increase in the number of suspicious SMS messages circulating recently, falsely claiming to be from the GESY (Cyprus National Health System). These messages falsely state that there is a problem with the connection to the GESY's online portal and encourage citizens to click on a malicious link. The link leads to a phishing website designed to steal passwords. The Cybercrime Sub-Division is warning the public to be extremely careful and not respond to such messages, to not reveal personal information and passwords, and to verify the authenticity of messages requesting passwords. If someone has already clicked on the link, it is recommended to change their password immediately.
