The death toll from avalanches in Austria has risen to five, as one of the injured succumbed to their injuries in hospital. Two people died in an avalanche at the Sankt Anton am Arlberg ski resort, while a 39-year-old Swiss man was killed while snowboarding in Klostertal. Additionally, a 42-year-old German man died in an avalanche in Nauders, while his 16-year-old son was seriously injured. The avalanches occurred in various areas of the Austrian Alps, in conditions of increased risk due to weather conditions. Local authorities have not released the ages or nationalities of the victims.
