Price Increases for Fresh Vegetables, Sugar, and Fish in December

According to the Consumer Protection Service's Price Observatory, significant price increases were recorded in December 2025 for fresh vegetables (23%), sugar (9.6%), and fresh fish (8.1%). Conversely, price decreases were observed in flour, frozen shellfish and fish, and oil. Out of a total of 45 product categories, 17 increased, 26 decreased, and 2 remained stable (legumes and canned meat). The Service notes that the annual inflation rate has been moving towards deflation since the second half of 2025. Additionally, the 'e-kalathi' shows fluctuations in the number of available products in major supermarkets, with a continuous increase.
