Student Grant Increased and Eligibility Criteria Expanded

The government is expanding the circle of beneficiaries for student grants and increasing the amount, as part of the modernization of student welfare. According to the Government Spokesman, Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the Cabinet approved an amending bill that will be submitted to Parliament immediately. The budget for student grants is increased to 62 million euros, allowing more families to join the state student welfare system. Specifically, all income criteria are increased by five thousand euros, while a 10% increase in the amount of the grant is foreseen for families with an annual income of up to 44 thousand euros. Special care is given to large families, as income and property criteria are abolished for families with five or more dependent children. The government emphasizes that economic stability allows for targeted social policy and that investment in students is an investment in the country's future. This initiative is part of President Christodoulides' policy direction for the modernization and strengthening of support for students and their families, confirming the government's commitment to a strong economy that serves a strong society.
