Police Shoot Man Threatening Officers with Knife in Paris

A man armed with a knife attacked police officers near the Arc de Triomphe in Paris and was neutralized by gunfire. During the attack, a police officer sustained minor injuries. The area was cordoned off, and the anti-terrorism unit is conducting an investigation. The perpetrator, a 48-year-old from Saint-Denis, had a history with the authorities, having been convicted of attacking police officers in Brussels in 2012 due to his disagreement with the ban on burqas. He was released from prison two months ago. The incident occurred shortly before the torch-lighting ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
