ASTEPAEK Disagrees with Two-Hour Strike at EAC, Calls for Dialogue

ASTEPAEK expresses its disagreement with the decision of the trade unions EPOPAEK, SIDIKEK, SEPAEK and SYVAEKK to hold a two-hour strike at EAC, regarding the involvement of ATIK in the energy sector. ASTEPAEK calls on the trade unions to reconsider their decision, emphasizing the need for unity and dialogue as discussions on the issue are ongoing. The trade union argues that escalating measures at this stage give the wrong impression, suggesting a lack of willingness to dialogue from employees and undermining the right to strike in a way that harms citizens and the economy. ASTEPAEK states its firm commitment to continuing dialogue with the EAC Board of Directors and Management, the Government and the trade union movement, with the aim of finding the best solution for society and consumers. It emphasizes that a strike should be a last resort, only when dialogue has been exhausted and its results are deemed harmful to EAC. Finally, the trade union reiterates its longstanding position for the modernization of EAC, so that it can provide cheaper and cleaner energy. It concludes by calling on the other trade unions to maintain a climate of unity and collectivity, and declares its readiness for sincere and constructive dialogue.
