Araghchi: Khamenei Alive 'As Far As I Know', Iran Seeks De-escalation

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is alive, responding to questions about the operation launched by the US and Israel against his country. He emphasized that Tehran wants de-escalation and does not target other countries in the Gulf. Araghchi said that all senior officials are well and that the country is managing the situation. He also expressed interest in de-escalation, clarifying that Iran had no intention of attacking Gulf states, but only targeted US bases in the region as an act of legitimate defense. At the same time, Araghchi sent a letter to the UN Security Council, condemning the US and Israeli operation as a “blatant act of aggression.” The letter emphasizes the violation of Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity and states that the country is exercising its right to self-defense. Iran warns that all bases and facilities of “enemy forces” in the region will be considered legitimate targets and pledges to continue self-defense until a complete cessation of hostile acts.
