Appeals Rejected in Case of 10-Year-Old Stavros Georgallis' Death

The Cypriot Court of Appeal has rejected appeals and upheld the original verdict in the case of the death of 10-year-old Stavros Georgallis. The decision confirms the conviction of Dr. Heraklis Pantelidis for medical negligence that led to the child's death and the acquittal of Dr. Kyriakos Kyriakides. Stavros Georgallis died in 2018 after a head injury, when a skull fracture was not diagnosed at the hospital and he was discharged. The Court of Appeal ruled that the incorrect diagnosis was the start of a chain of events that led to the child's death and that the medical negligence was a cause of death. The lack of a neurosurgery clinic at the hospital and the delay in calling a neurosurgeon were also highlighted.
