Attempted Murder in Larnaca: 30-Year-Old Suspect in Custody – Victim Met Suspect Through Dating App

A 30-year-old man has been placed under an eight-day detention order following a court decision, as he is considered a suspect in the attempted murder of a 31-year-old man in Larnaca. The victim was found stabbed on a city street and is hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Authorities believe the attempted murder was due to personal differences, as the suspect and the victim had met through a dating website months ago and were in a relationship. According to investigations, the two men had a meeting on Friday, which escalated into a stabbing incident. Initially, the victim claimed he was attacked by unknown assailants, but his claim was not believed. Police managed to identify the 30-year-old, who was located in the occupied territories and surrendered to authorities with the assistance of the Bicommunal Crime Team. During the investigation at the victim's apartment, which had been rented through Airbnb, drugs and drug paraphernalia were found, resulting in a separate investigation by the YKAN (Cyprus Drug and Addiction Control Authority).
