Foreign Ministry Budget Absorption Rate Reaches 91.7%

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs demonstrates a high budget absorption rate of 91.7% for 2025. This is significantly higher compared to previous years, with absorption rates of 89% in 2024 and 84% in 2023. The ministry's central administration absorbed 92% of available funds, while diplomatic missions absorbed 90%. The Foreign Ministry's budget for 2025 amounts to €124.48 million, representing an 11% increase compared to 2024. However, the ministry's needs are considered greater than the available resources. The high budget absorption rate indicates effective resource management by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, despite the fact that its budget is relatively small compared to the overall state budget (1.33%). The 11% budget increase for 2025 is expected to help cover some of the ministry's growing needs, however, efficient resource management remains crucial for addressing the challenges facing Greek foreign policy.
