Cyprus FM Expresses 'Disappointment' Over UN 'Even-Handedness' in Reports

The Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed disappointment with the United Nations' continued tendency to maintain 'even-handedness' in its reports regarding the Cyprus issue. It believes this leads to a fragmented and inaccurate picture of the situation, as the Turkish occupation and the actions of the occupying forces are not adequately considered. At the same time, the Ministry welcomes the reaffirmation of the UN Secretary-General's commitment to restarting negotiations, based on the agreed framework and relevant Security Council resolutions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized its concern over the situation in the enclosed area of Varosha, for which it holds Turkey solely responsible, and over violations of the ceasefire line by the occupation army.
