Doctors Strike Today in the Occupied Territories

Doctors in the occupied territories began a 24-hour strike today, protesting the non-fulfillment of their demands by the "ministry of health." The strike started at 07:45 and will end at 15:30, with the interruption of all regular health services, except for emergencies, intensive care units, hospitalization, hemodialysis and chemotherapy. The TIP-İŞ union denounces that more than 50% of doctors in the "public" sector work on contracts and compulsory service, without being recognized as “public” employees. Doctors are demanding the conversion of contracts to permanent positions, improvement of working conditions and strengthening of "public" health against private hospitals. TIP-İŞ is holding a press conference at 11:30.
