Vigilance and Preparedness Required from the Government

An opinion article highlights the need for vigilance and preparedness from the government regarding the protection of Greek Cypriot properties and the safeguarding of legality. Three specific cases are mentioned: the return of a property usurper to his home country, the acquittal of an Iranian national in a French court with a questionable rationale regarding the application of European law in the occupied territories, and the registration of the illegal toponym “Iskele” instead of the legal “Trikomo” on a new Cypriot identity card. The author argues that these incidents, although seemingly different, underscore the need for a consistent and decisive stance from the government in defending sovereign rights and historical truth.
