HMS Prince of Wales Unlikely to Deploy to Middle East

The HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carrier, which had been placed on high readiness amid concerns about potential attacks from Iran, appears unlikely to deploy to the Middle East. Initial speculation suggested it might be sent to the Mediterranean to protect the British base in Cyprus, however, it is now expected to participate in NATO exercises in the Arctic, as originally planned. The UK government had not made a final decision on deploying the carrier to the Mediterranean, and the initial decision to increase readiness is no longer linked to the situation in Iran. This move prompted a reaction from former President Trump, who stated that he no longer needs the help of the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, fighter jets and HMS Dragon have already been dispatched to the region following drone attacks on British bases.
