Στη συνέντευξη που παραχώρησε στην εκπομπή "Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg" στις 8 Μαρτίου 2026, ο Πρόεδρος του Ισραήλ Ισαάκ Χέρτζογκ ρωτήθηκε για τη νομιμότητα των ισραηλινών ενεργειών κατά του Ιράν.
Ο Πρόεδρος του Ισραήλ εξέφρασε την έκπληξή του για τις αμφιβολίες σχετικά με τη νομιμότητα του πολέμου, λέγοντας ότι "το μυαλό σταματά" (mind boggles) όταν εστιάζουμε σε αυτό αντί για το μέλλον της Μέσης Ανατολής και την ειρήνη.

Υποστήριξε ότι το Ιράν δεν τηρεί κανέναν κανόνα διεθνούς δικαίου, αναφέροντας παραβιάσεις όπως επιθέσεις σε βρετανικές βάσεις και την καταστολή διαδηλώσεων στο εσωτερικό του, όπου έχουν σκοτωθεί περίπου 50.000 πολίτες του.
"Είναι εκπληκτικό να αμφισβητείται η νομιμότητα όταν σκεφτόμαστε ότι το Ιράν δεν σέβεται κανένα διεθνές δίκαιο", δήλωσε ο Χέρτζογκ, τονίζοντας ότι η κοινή επιχείρηση με τις ΗΠΑ θα κάνει την περιοχή και την Ευρώπη πιο ασφαλή.
Αναφέρθηκε σε πάνω από 20 περιστατικά παραβιάσεων από το Ιράν τον τελευταίο χρόνο, χαρακτηρίζοντάς το ως "αυτοκρατορία του κακού" που απειλεί τη Βρετανία και άλλες χώρες.
