Antonio Costa: Strengthening Economic Growth in Europe is a Priority

European Council President Antonio Costa stated that strengthening economic growth in Europe is a top priority, as it is essential for prosperity, job creation, and maintaining the European economic and social model. He made the statement upon his arrival at the emergency summit in Belgium, which focuses on enhancing the EU's competitiveness. Costa highlighted four key priorities: deepening the single market, upgrading companies through access to capital, protecting European businesses from unfair competition, and attracting investment. Specifically, he emphasized the need for a “dynamic capital market” that supports small and medium-sized enterprises and startups, as well as large companies. Costa mentioned that the issue of public investment will be discussed later, while the immediate priority is to unlock private investment and mobilize savings to strengthen companies.
