Company Facing Penalties as Pame Express Service is Suspended

Cyprus Public Transport announced the suspension of the Pame Express service from March 23, 2026, citing a lack of drivers. The Ministry of Transport expresses its disagreement with the suspension and calls on the company to withdraw it, emphasizing that the recruitment of personnel is the sole responsibility of the contractor, according to the terms of the contract. The Head of the Public Passenger Transport Sector, Andreas Nikiforou, stated that the company did not follow the procedure for approving changes as stipulated in the contract. He points out that there are clauses and penalties that could be imposed on the company. The Pame Express service had been very successful, with over 100,000 passengers in 2025 and an extension of its route. The suspension of the service is considered a negative development, given the increased demand. The Ministry of Transport is seeking a solution and the restoration of the service as soon as possible, while examining the legal possibilities for imposing sanctions on the company.
