"Open and Honest Meeting" Said Erhurman After Meeting with President

The T/C leader, Tufan Erhurman, described his meeting with the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, as “open and honest”. It was agreed to give instructions to the representatives of both sides to continue contacts, in order to cover the lost ground in the MEPs and prepare for a new meeting of the leaders. A specific issue of cooperation discussed was foot-and-mouth disease, with the Turkish Cypriot side committing to provide 20,000 doses of vaccines to the Republic of Cyprus, recognizing the risk of spread throughout the island. Particular emphasis was placed on the roadblocks, with Erhurman proposing the opening of the Mia Milia roadblock for vehicle passage, while for the Paphos Gate it was proposed to open it for pedestrians. Humanitarian issues were also discussed, with Erhurman announcing a visit to the school of the trapped Greek Cypriots in Rizokarpaso. Regarding the Cyprus issue, Erhurman reiterated the “methodology of four points” and stressed that the negotiating convergences of Kran Montana should be considered an acquired right. He argued that the non-resolution of the Cyprus issue is due to the “unwillingness of the Greek Cypriot leadership to share power and wealth”.
