Concerns Over Toxic Rain in Tehran

Residents of Tehran are expressing strong concern over the toxic rain that hit the city following the Israeli attack on oil facilities. Fears of potential chemical substances in the smoke rising from the burning oil storage tanks have caused anxiety among citizens, leading them to seek advice on protecting their health. Specifically, advice is circulating on consuming milk, closing windows, and wearing N95 masks. Reports mention the fall of particles resembling black gunpowder, while many advise avoiding going outside during the rain. The Iranian Red Crescent has issued a warning to the public, calling on citizens to avoid exposure to the toxic acidic rain and to remain indoors whenever possible. It is recommended to avoid going out after rainfall and to perform gargles with salt water in case of inhalation of soot particles. This attack marks the first time an urban industrial facility has been targeted in war, according to the Associated Press. However, as reported by the Iranian Red Crescent Society, US and Israeli strikes have caused extensive damage to approximately 10,000 civilian structures throughout the country.
