Radiological Society Expresses Concern Over Misleading Information Regarding Imaging Centers Bill

The Cyprus Radiological Society expresses strong concern over misleading information circulating regarding the bill for Imaging Centers, which will soon be voted on in Parliament. The Society denounces that certain centers are putting pressure on MPs to remove the provision for the physical presence of a radiologist in the centers, falsely presenting the radiologist's role and undermining medical responsibility. It points out that the provision concerns the presence of the radiologist during normal working hours and not every examination, while also allowing for teleradiology under specific conditions. The Society emphasizes that transparency in identifying the reporting radiologist is essential, as there are cases where the opinion is signed by another radiologist, without clear identification of the original. The issue has been highlighted by the Audit Office and the National Electronic Health Authority.
