Adjournment in Koumas Case - Response to Charges on May 6th

The case of Giorgos Koumas, former President of the Cyprus Football Federation, has been adjourned to May 6, 2026, when he will respond to 25 charges of conflict of interest and money laundering. The defense requested an adjournment due to not having received all the evidence from the prosecuting authority, which was described as “extensive”. The representative of the prosecuting authority stated that the material will be delivered within ten days. Mr. Koumas signed a bail of €100,000 with a guarantor to ensure his presence at the next hearing. The charges relate to the period 2015-2025 and include collaborations with various organizations, such as the CFA, the Cyprus Telecommunications Authority and other companies. They also include charges of money laundering amounting to approximately €6.5 million.
