Citizenship Scheme Trial Adjourned Until July 2026 Due to Court Workload

The trial for the citizenship scheme, involving former Minister of the Anastasiades Government, Marios Dimitriades, and nine other individuals, has been adjourned and is scheduled to begin on July 8, 2026. The adjournment is due to the increased workload of the court. The defendants face charges of bribery, influence peddling, conspiracy to defraud, money laundering from illegal activities, and violation of the Council of Europe Convention on Corruption. These include eight natural persons and two legal entities. In addition to Mr. Dimitriades, the defendants are Andreas, Dimitris, and Giorgos Dimitriades, Eleni Simillidi, Jing Wang, Josef Friedrich Santin, Vasiliki Georgiou-Santin, Andreas Demetriades & Co LLC, and Delsk (Cyprus) Business Services Ltd. The presumption of innocence applies to all defendants until their guilt is proven beyond any reasonable doubt by the court.
